Caritas Holy Family Hospital is offering free prostate cancer screenings on Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 22, between 4 to 6 p.m. at the William L. Lane Cancer Center.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men, with one in six men affected during his lifetime. However, through early detection and treatment, more than 2 million men in the U.S. have survived this disease. Men, 50 and older, should be screened annually and men, 40 and older, should be screened if they are at a higher risk due to high-fat diets or a family history of prostate cancer. Early symptoms may include: frequent urination, especially at night; blood in urine; difficulties or inability to urinate; and a weak or painful stream.
Appointments are open to the public and may be scheduled by calling 800-488-5959, ext. 375.
