Posted by Common on Nov 2, 2009 in Obituaries • No commentsMETHUEN — Florence “Flo” (Leblanc) Wante, 82, former longtime resident of Methuen, died Friday, Oct. 30,2009 at the Lawrence General Hospital. She was born on Dec. 12, 1926, the daughter of Benjamin and Jenny (Perry) Leblanc, and attended Andover public schools. She worked for Western Electric before retiring after 30 years of service.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Roland, whom she met in elementary school and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage. She was known for her amazing giving spirit, unending devotion to her family, passion for the Red Sox and Celtics, and her love of Foxwoods and bingo. She was an exceptional bowler, having won many candlepin tournaments over the years. Her family loved her dearly and she will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses, including Ronald Wante and his wife Catherine of Hampstead, N.H., Glenn Wante and his wife Rosalind of Derry, N.H., Mark Wante and his wife Laura of Methuen, Karen Davey and her husband Mark of Andover, and Susan Wante and her partner Elizabeth of Salem, N.H. She also leaves behind her 12 loving grandchildren, Janet, Lori, Ronald, Nicole, Chris, Steve, Schyla, Jennifer, Alison, Cameron, Carson, and Nate and 14 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is also survived by her sister, Anita Poirier; sister-in-law, Lorraine Thompson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends may call on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Council Parish at St. Theresa’s Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery, North Lowell St., Methuen. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Florence’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
