The Cypress Area Neighborhood Group’s Annual Meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, March 25th from 6:30pm-7:30pm at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Methuen. We will meet in the church hall on the lower level which can be accessed from the parking lot off of Elm Street.
At the meeting, we will celebrate our past successes and make plans for future actions going forward. Please bring a dessert to share.
Please email me with your ideas for agenda items. What I have for agenda items thus far are…

* talk about what projects we want to work on together in the Spring
* confirm block party dates and divide up responsibilities
* continued discussions about police presence in the area

Methuen Board of Trade Person of the Year: Colleen Carney 4/18

The Methuen Board of Trade has chosen Colleen Carney as their Person of the Year 2010. Collen has been chosen for her outstanding commitment not only to the Methuen Board of Trade, but to the entire Methuen community. The Board of Directors unanimously selected her for this honor. She is actively involved with the Festival of Trees, Methuen Board of Trade, College Club, Methuen Historical Society and is a Presentation of Mary alumni. The Board of Trade will also be acknowledging Elaine Morrisette from the Methuen Senior Center as an Honoree.

The Awards Banquet will be held on
Thursday April 15th, 2010 at
the Harris’ Pelham Inn
65 Ledge Road
Pelham, NH.

Cocktail hour starts at 5:30pm.
Dinner will be served at 6:30pm.

Tickets are $40.00 per person for general seating
$320.00 for a reserved table of 8.

Methuen V.F.W. Post # 8349 held their “Voice of Democracy and Patriot Pen Essay Contest Ceremony on Sunday January 10th, 2010

2009 Voice of Democracy Theme: “Does America still have Heroes?”
1st Place – Jenna Kermelewicz
2nd Place – Magie Lundquist
3rd Place- Angie Tran

2009 Patriot’s Pen Essay Theme: “When is the right time to honor Our Military Heroes?”
1st place and District winner Monica Nicole Abou-Ezzi (6th grade)
2nd place Mounir Elhout (7th grade)
3rd place Lina Hanh Nguyen (8th grade)

The city will recognize the winners at the next Methuen City Council meeting with citations from the Mayor’s Office as well as the City Council.
