Art

Painting: Oil, Acrylic & Watercolor (beginner and intermediate)
Choose one medium only. Concentrate on color, composition, spatial concepts and drawing skills. Personal guidance based on your own style. Be prepared to paint the first class. Materials list mailed one week prior to class.

Watercolor: A Look at the New England Coast
Learn to use the tools of watercolor. Students will complete a watercolor painting within as little as 2 hours. At the end of each class most should have a completed watercolor painting to take home. Bring supplies and be ready to paint the first day. Intermediate Watercolor
Class will continue to explore watercolor techniques and will develop student’s own style and subject matter. Some experience in drawing and watercolor. Bartending
Learn the basic skills needed to be a bartender, including essential techniques, popular shaken and stirred drinks, beer wine, garnishes, and glassware use. On-the-job problem solving and customer service basics will be discussed. The program outlines effective alcohol service practices to help assure every drink served is a safe one. All liquids used in this class for purposes of learning are non-alcoholic. The ServSafe Alcohol Certification exam will be given in class. Must be 18 years or over to take class.

Please note: Bartending program includes both of the following modules:
1. ServSafe Alcohol Awareness Certification – Weeks 1 & 2 will be a classroom session in North Andover. The certification test will be on week 2.
2. Fundamentals of Mixology – Weeks 3-6 will be hands-on classes at the Timony School in Methuen.

Intro to Computers: 1st Time User
This course is designed for the “pure beginner”. You will start with a guided tour through operating the hardware, including using the keyboard, mouse, disks, printers and much more. Learn the basics of working in MS Windows. Understand the start menu, “My Computer”, folders, file management and the desktop. Get your first exposure to cyberspace, including the Internet and the World Wide Web, browsers, search engines, and email. This is a highly interactive course where students learn by doing with instructor-led hands-on exercises.

Intro to Computers: Novice User
Designed for the new user who has spent some time with PCs. Learn how to use MS Windows accessories to manage and configure your PC. Understand the control panel to customize the user interface including mouse activities, display screen settings and adding and removing software. Learn basic troubleshooting, fundamentals of Microsoft Office, and how to protect your PC locally and in cyberspace. Download and install software from the web. Discover the necessities of your computer’s health, including temperature, power and backup strategies. Bring your questions and PC problems with you.

Introduction to MS Office 2003
An overview of four of Microsoft’s popular programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
